Hi! My name is Jess and I am one of the co-founders of Punk Bunnies.
I see you've come across my blog - welcome!
Here are my musings on being a sibling to a transgender individual. I'll be sharing advice, important information about support and what its like to live as a big sister to my younger brother Charlie.
Charlie identifies as a trans male and is currently on testosterone and hormone blockers.
To be honest, as a sister I have seen how tough it has been for Charlie and it sucks having to see this as an outsider and never be able to take that pain away from him.
However what I realised was that I can't 'fix' the struggle and pain on his journey, however I CAN make it more manageable, I can help and support in any way I can - remind him that he is valid. He is strong, and we can both learn on this journey - as we are walking it together.
I am not and will never let him face it alone.
On this Blog ‘My Brother is A Boy’ I'll be chatting about living with Charlie and what I see as a sister and what I have and and learning from him and his experiences. Hopefully my rambling can be of use to some of you. I figured there is a lot of stuff out there for parents and guardians, but where is the stuff for the siblings? What about us!? So here I am, sharing from my perspective what I've learnt from living with a transgender individual.
I'll be posting Sibling Top Tips at the bottom of every post, so be sure to check those out.
All advice is from my personal experiences, I am not a professional in any way, just a loving big sister.
